A Modern Designer 9 Patch Quilt

I love the modern, yet traditional look of this quilt! It's a traditional design, made modern with the use of fun designer fabrics in a range of colors and patterns. You'll find fabrics by Amy Butler, and many of my very favorite fabrics from Denyse Schmidt's Flea Market Fancy line, as well as many, many others!

The nine patch blocks are sashed with a bright white cotton, which really makes all the colors pop. And then on the back, I used a lovely solid in one of my favorite colors - a nice dark charcoal. I pieced the remaining fabrics to create a fun and whimsical border, which might just be my favorite part!

The binding is pieced, and uses a fun green striped fabric by Lizzy House, mixed with the lovely Plum Filigree by Anna Maria Horner. I machine quilted it in a nice free motion meandering design.

This quilt has been washed and is ready to be used! It measures a generous 52" x 75" -- perfect as a throw for the couch, or as an extra blanket on the bed. Ideal for napping!

red and aqua stars quilt

In this quilt I wanted to play a bit with red and aqua, since it's a color combo I don't usually use. I decided to make these great little scrappy stars and pair them with a lot of white. I love the one red star at the bottom with a sprinkling of blue stars above.

The backing is a solid blue with one little white star in the upper corner. I machine quilted this one with a series of random straight lines and then bound it with a great aqua stripe fabric. The binding has been handsewn to the backing for an invisible finish.

It measure about 34.5" x 36.5", so a great little quilt for a new baby, or a fun size for a wall hanging for any red and aqua lover!

Washed in environmentally friendly detergent and ready for a loving home!

Dream On baby doll - a mini patchwork quilt

Another great little quilt! This little mini version is made up of half square triangles featuring all the prints from the brand new (not yet released!) Urban Chicks line, Dream On. This line is a wonderful collection of florals and stripes, reminiscent of vintage linens. The colors are pretty and calming - just perfect for a little baby girl!

For the backing, I used a beautiful Amy Butler solid in light pink, and then quilted it with a really fun chevron pattern. It creates a great pattern on the back, and since it's not overly quilted, it's very soft to the touch. It's all bound in another Amy Butler solid - a darker pink with a little bit of orange accents - to tie everything together.

This quilt measures 23 1/2" x 26 1/2". It's been washed and dried and it's ready to be loved. This would make a great quilt for a newborn baby and would transition well into a security blanket for a little one. Or, it would make a great doll quilt, or even a fun wall hanging!

MoMo Odyssea patchwork baby quilt

Another great charm square quilt! This one is made up of prints from MoMo's Odyssea line, with a wonderful underwater, beachy feel. The colors are beautiful - gorgeous blues, aquas, greens and reds.

I used one of the prints for the backing, and I quilted it with straight lines on either side of each seam. It creates a great pattern on the back, and since it's not overly quilted, it's very soft to the touch. It's all bound in a lovely red solid to tie everything together. As always, the binding is hand sewn to the back for a perfect invisible finish.

This quilt measures 34" x 43". It's been washed using environmentally friendly detergent and it's soft and ready to be loved!

strawberries and champagne quilt

This sweet quilt uses many pink fabrics in a variety of prints and solids. I added in a bit of gold and brown to add a touch of sophistication. Each of the blocks in this quilt are totally unique, and are made in an improv style, creating a quilt with a lot of visual interest.

For the backing, I used a medium pink solid and added in a patchwork strip of smaller improv blocks. It's been machine quilted by me in a nice all over random meandering pattern. I used a pale pink silk finish thread. It's bound in a solid brown. The binding has been machine sewn to the front, and hand sewn to the backing for a nice invisible finish.

This quilt has been washed in a mild, environmentally friendly detergent and is soft and crinkly and just ready to be snuggled under! Measures about 44" x 53".

baby birds and butterflies quilt

I based the design of this great modern baby quilt around this lovely Robert Kaufman print. It has wonderful colors - a great combo of raspberry, lime and chocolate browns with lovely silhouettes of birds and butterflies.

I used a bird or butterfly for the center of each improv block, and pulled in other lime, raspberry and brown designer prints. The sashing is a bright white Kona cotton.

On the back, I pieced together some of the remaining scraps to create a fun patchwork strip, and since I had a couple butterflies left, I created a couple smaller improv blocks for the bottom corner.

It's been machine quilted in a nice meandering free motion pattern, and then I used some remaining fabrics for a fun pieced binding.

It's all washed and dried and crinkly and it measures about 45" x 60", a great crib size. (I find it's also perfect as a lap quilt!)

Cookies and Cream baby quilt

What an adorable modern baby quilt! I've paired a variety of designer black and white and cream fabrics with this lovely periwinkle blue solid for a look that's fun and modern... and perfect for either a boy or girl!

I've quilted this one in a nice random meandering pattern using a lovely light gray silk finish thread.

This quilt measures approximately 44" x 51". It's made of designer cotton fabrics and cotton thread. The batting is 50% bamboo and 50% organic cotton. This has been prewashed for you with a mild detergent and as always, it can be washed and dried as often as you'd like!

Please note: Due to the variety of fabrics used in this quilt, there are some differences in the shades of black and shades of white. Some of the whites do appear creamier in color, while others apear brighter white. I think this adds to the quilt, but I realize there are others who might not care for these color differences!
